Sunday Arts Hub

Raziel_Soto_1_s

I've featured the Roundabout Cafe, AmUsing Clay and Tin Shed Gallery before.  But now there's another addition to that little arts hub that I simply had to tell you about.  While you will have already gathered that I'm just a bit keen on the visual arts, I have to confess that music is my favourite area of the arts.  It's harder to blog about because it's not a visual medium.  But if like me, you love the sounds of classical guitar, you'll want to know that for the last few Sundays this very fine classical guitarist, Raziel Soto, has played at the Roundabout Cafe.

Born in Mexico, Raz studied guitar for twelve years at Veracruz University. He has set up residence near Warrandyte and I'm hoping that we will have many more opportunities to hear him play in the future.  He has produced a very fine CD which includes one of his own compositions, a little Bach, Tarrega and Manuel Ponze. I'm playing it across the deck at Isiiad as I write this. He is happy to play at weddings, parties, anything and can be contacted to arrange a performance or for a CD on 0415 301 772.

The weather on Sunday was so sublime that I began to feel spring on its way.  It's even warmer today!  The area around the galleries and cafe at the roundabout is also available for use as an outdoor art market and I imagine that once the spring is upon us in earnest, the number of stalls will increase.  I can imagine a walk along the river followed by a wander up to the stalls and galleries and then a great coffee and cake courtesy of Karen at the Roundabout Cafe.

A dear little arts hub for a lazy Sunday afternoon.
