…those words pretty much sum this one up! ACME et al have done it again. They’ve put on an exhibition that’s a little bit of ‘naughty’ and a lot of ‘nice’. Boutique Yarra Valley wines are matched to erotic art by the likes of Norman Lindsay and Pro Hart. The artworks capture the quality of the chosen wine. You get to judge for yourself if the ‘marriage is made in heaven’, as you’re offered a tasting on arrival, to take through to the exhibition. People’s Choice will be announced in October.
Here’s just a little ‘taste’ of what’s on offer. (I know, pardon the pun.)
Pro Hart’s© Reclining Nude is matched to Acadia Ridge, 2007 Shiraz.
The notes accompanying “Big Betty” go something like this,
“Tasting notes- Bloody Good. Get it into ya! Goes well with feral cat stew.” You’ve gotta love a wine maker who doesn’t take himself too seriously!
It’s matched to Mamen Zaera’s © For Peter Rath, etching.
By comparison the notes for this Pear Cider go like this,
“This sparkling cider was made using a blend of 60% Packham Triumph and 40% Beurre Bosc- a flavour combination that enhances complexity and flavour.
Bouquet- The elegant cider displays aromas of baked pear, white flowers and hints of star anise, complemented by a fresh, yeasty brioche character.
Palate- The delicate pear characters are balanced beautifully with fresh natural acidity and a creamy textural palate enhanced by the bottle fermentation and lees content.
Food- Smoked trout and gruyere cheese souffle.”
The Pear Cider is matched to Nordrin Yurii’s©, For Also Puerari, etching
As if the exhibition isn’t enough all by itself, ACME et al is hosting a workshop inspired by “Clandestine” on Saturday, September 24th.at 10am to 4pm. They have combined a life drawing session with a mono printing workshop ably lead by local artist Margaret McLoughlin. The workshop is called “Deshabille” ( loosely translated- undressed). Places are limited so make sure you book immediately to secure a place.
Truly, where else in the world could you have so much fun…all in one place!
