The New York collective electricity bill for lighting must be off the scale. Cruise down Fifth Avenue around Christmas time and you get a sense of it. These beautiful light fittings and lamps are a collection of the most interesting ones I saw while in New York. I hope you enjoy them as much as I’ve enjoyed bringing them to you.
Here are the full light fittings from the details above.
These enormous lamps below, took my eye at La Lanterna at 129 MacDougal Street in the West Village. Early on in my stay my daughter took me there claiming it to be a very fine local pizza restaurant. We enjoyed our pizza so much that on the night of the New York blizzard on Boxing Day we trekked out knee deep in snow for another one. I know, only a tourist would do that!
In addition to this great indoor garden, there are two open fire places. Sitting by the fire eating the best gorgonzola pizza ever and who cares about a blizzard!
I spied this one at the MOMA. It’s really wild. Imagine it over a huge dining table!
I love a big finish! These gorgeous lamps are by Patrick Jouin and were exhibited at the Museum of Arts and Design, NYC in December of last year.
If I were to say, “They light up my life.” I’m sure I’d hear the collective groan across cyber space. So I certainly wouldn’t say that.
