Jocelyn Cross, co-director of Nook Nook furniture, is just as bright, brave and bubbly as her furniture.  Taking these photos in her dear little terrace just north of Melbourne’s CBD last week was the best fun I’ve had in ages.
As an interior designer with many years experience, Jocelyn has the necessary courage and style to make this ‘scribbly’ wallpaper work with her furniture and treasures (and yes the tricolour corgi, Albert, in the foreground, is undoubtedly one of her most treasured possessions).  These blue felted wool Nook Nook chairs are the perfect statement with her seriously bold backdrop. In addition to being bold and beautiful the chairs are supremely comfortable…a big tick from me on that front. It almost goes without saying that during manufacture, Nook Nook’s attention to detail and quality is unsurpassed. Sustainability credentials of all of their furniture includes an impressive list:

PVA low formaldehyde glue
Timbers sourced from Certified Sustained Forests (Forestry Stewardship Council)
Water-based sealant (zero Volatile Organic Compounds)
Foams are CFC free
Recycled car tyres are used for webbing
Furniture is made to order in Australia and is hand delivered wrapped in reusable felt as opposed to plastic wrap
These blue chairs were only just launched onto the market at SaturdayInDesign in Sydney, August this year, resulting in an avalanche of orders and some serious media attention.

Any wonder that Nook Nook’s ‘Loft’ collection has been short listed for the idea11 (Interior Design  Excellence Awards for Sustainable Product 2011). Incidentally I have it on the best authority from a very discerning friend, that the proportions of the Loft Collection Air Chair make it perfect for a ‘snuggle up’ with your favourite book. That’ll do it for me every time.

Jocie is a consummate collector of interesting bits and pieces that draw your eye and, in my case, simply make me happy. Travels to far off places, plus fossicking in local vintage stores, are often the sources for much loved treasures.  Every piece has a story of its own, while adding a certain “je ne sais quoi” to the overall decor.

With Jocelyn’s energy and talent, business partner Richard Carnell’s long track record in the industry, Nook Nook is destined for success.  Nook Nook is a wholesale furniture supplier.  To find out where their furniture is available, check out their website.
